Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions we hear most often about production music and licensing. Can't find what you need? Our team is happy to help.
The music
Production music is music written and recorded specifically to be licensed for use in content: TV programmes, films, adverts, branded content, social media, podcasts and more. Tracks are easy to search and preview, and many come with alternative mixes, stems and cutdowns so editors can fit them to picture.
Every track comes from Audio Network's catalogue of more than 300,000 original tracks by over 1,000 artists, composers and producers, spanning 800+ genres. Audio Network records more than 150 sessions a year, including at Abbey Road Studios, and adds around 1,000 new tracks every month.
No. The music is written and performed by real artists, composers, producers and musicians. Technology is used to help you search the catalogue faster, for example by describing a scene or matching a reference track, but not to make the music.
Yes, for many tracks. Alternative mixes, stems and shorter cutdowns let you shape the music around dialogue, timing and picture. Availability varies by track.
Licensing and rights
Music is protected by copyright. Putting music into a video, film, advert, programme or podcast generally needs permission from the rights holders, known as a synchronisation (sync) licence. A licence from us gives you that permission within the terms of the licence you choose.
Audio Network owns both the recording (master) and the composition (publishing) rights to its catalogue. That means one licence covers the track, with no need to clear the recording and the song separately with different labels or publishers.
No. It is licensed production music. The composers are registered with performing rights organisations, which pay them royalties when their music is broadcast or performed. This doesn't add to your licence fee, and on platforms like YouTube, TikTok, Instagram and Facebook those royalties are handled by the platforms, so there is nothing extra for you to arrange.
Yes. Licences are fully indemnified against copyright infringement when the music is used within the terms of the licence.
Yes. Licences can cover social media, including organic posts, boosted posts and paid advertising, as well as broadcast and digital. Just make sure the licence you choose matches the platforms and type of content you are producing.
Yes. Licences can cover worldwide use across platforms, depending on the licence you choose. If your content will run in several markets or channels, tell us and we'll confirm the right cover.
Whether you need a single track or a full year's content covered with a subscription, you pay only for the rights you actually need. Our team will recommend the right option for your project.
Pricing depends on how the music will be used: a social video, a TV programme and a regional advertising campaign need different rights. Contact our team with your project details and we will send you a quote.
Yes. There are no seat restrictions, so you can add your whole team at no extra cost.
